Norwegian Church Aid is launching a Local Open Tender and invites interested suppliers/candidates to participate in the procurement procedure for the relevant lot(s):

Background:

Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) and DanChurchAid (DCA) have been active in Zambia for over two decades, and in 2011, the two organizations formalized their collaboration by establishing a Joint Country Programme (JCP). NCA-DCA is an organization committed to promoting global justice and providing humanitarian and development assistance to vulnerable populations, regardless of creed, race, political affiliation, or religious background. Their work spans emergency relief, long-term community development, and advocacy aimed at addressing the structural causes of poverty and inequality.

As part of their ongoing commitment to improving Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) services in underserved communities, NCA-DCA plans to upgrade five existing hand-pumped boreholes into solar-powered mechanized water supply systems across Rufunsa, Gwembe, Kazungula, and Zimba Districts. These upgrades aim to enhance the reliability, efficiency, and sustainability of water supply systems to meet growing domestic, sanitation, and productive water needs, including support for schools, health facilities, and small-scale irrigation. The intervention will contribute to improved public health, increased access to safe water, and strengthened community-based water management.

Technical Specifications and Requirements:

The tender involves detailed specifications for the upgrading of existing hand-pumped boreholes into solar-powered water supply schemes, including standards for solar pumping equipment, electrical components, water storage infrastructure, reticulation systems, and civil works. All works must be carried out to the highest standards using quality materials, appropriate tools, and skilled labor to ensure reliable and sustainable water service delivery.
