Inventory Supervisor

Barloworld Equipment provides total solutions in earthmoving equipment, materials handling and power systems and related equipment in 10 countries in Southern Africa. As the appointed Caterpillar dealer in the region, Barloworld Equipment supplies equipment, parts and service to customers in the mining, construction, handling, agricultural and energy industries.

Barloworld Equipment Zambia Limited is looking for a suitably qualified individuals to fill the positions below:

INVENTORY SUPERVISOR – SOLWEZI, LUMWANA, KITWE, LUSAKA

Applicants suitably qualified based on the requirements stated below are invited to apply for the positions.

Job Purpose:

The role is responsible for optimizing inventory levels, ensuring high parts availability, and maintaining strict warehouse accuracy to minimize client equipment downtime and maximize operational profitability, machinery parts and components, managing customer accounts, and delivering quick, accurate solutions to minimize client equipment downtime.

Key Outputs include but are not limited to: 

• Conducting regular cycle counts, wall-to-wall stocktakes, and investigating inventory variances.

• Monitoring stock levels to maintain high warehouse fill rates for critical mining and machine components.

• Structuring storage layouts to maximize space utilization, safety compliance, and picking efficiency.

• Identifying and reporting slow-moving or obsolete stock to protect working capital.

• Invoicing and coordinating with freight forwarding teams to track inbound international shipments.

• Investigate and ensure corrective actions for reasons why items end up in block stock; keep a reporting log

• Log claims against Vendors regarding damaged stock and / or missing stock (Cat Claims Portal) 

• Claims: Inspect, update claims register; record the claim on SAP & CAT system within required timeframe. 

• Daily follow up on claim status and action (close / return / scrap as per policy). 

• Run reports to ascertain available bins and free up as required and assign bins to stock without bin assignments.

• Remove scrapped stock from bins and destroy as per policy requirements. 

• Assist warehouse with daily activities and Execute necessary movement of stock as per authorized request. 

• Assist with PoE Audits by providing required evidence for areas of responsibility. 

• Remove and dispose of parts as per service letter requirements. 

• Daily open stock order and POD management, Manage Stock Performance reports. 

• Lead-time management, Surplus management 

• Parts Availability barometer 

• Compile and maintain Stock accuracy report 

Minimum Qualifications

• Full Grade 12 Certificate with good grades.

• Degree or Diploma in Purchasing & Supply / Supply Chain Management

• Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in warehouse operations or inventory control, ideally within heavy machinery, automotive, or mining supplies.

• Strong hands-on experience using an ERP system (such as SAP, Sage, or Syspro)

• Fully paid up Member of the Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS)
