About Comundo
Comundo is a leading Swiss organization for Personnel Development Cooperation (PDC), focused on improving living conditions for disadvantaged groups in Africa and Latin America. Guided bythe United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Comundo has been active in Zambia for over 40 years, with a focus on education and vocational training. In 2025, Comundo launched the Energy Skills for Youth (ES4Y) project, aimed at providing competency-based vocational skills development in the solar energy sector for disadvantaged youths.
Job overview
As an Entrepreneurship and Employability Specialist you will be responsible of all the entrepreneurship and employability activities in the implementing Vocational Education and Technical Institutions (VTIs). Improve career guidance and provide comprehensive support for entrepreneurship, employability, and life skills development among VTI graduates, through strengthening the partner organisation’s capacity in delivering learner-centered teaching approaches and work-based learning. You will also be attached to one VTI and offering services to the other implementing partners.
Your key responsibilities include
• Co-Design and implement a mentorship programme connecting graduates with experienced entrepreneurs and industry experts; organize networking sessions and follow-up support.
• Identify and engage private sector partners; develop promotional materials explaining benefits of hosting interns; facilitate partnership agreements and communication channels.
• Provide guidance on business planning, financial literacy, and accessing microfinance or grants; organize workshops on cooperative formation and management.
• Establish career counselling services; create job search resources and link students with databases; assist in organising job fairs and employer engagement events.
• Track participant progress and evaluate the impact of training programs using key performance indicators.
• Build and strengthen capacity for career guidance teachers
• Develop tools and processes to track graduate progress in business and employment; train staff to use these systems effectively.
• Conduct assessments to identify viable business opportunities in the solar energy sector.
• Design gender-sensitive training modules; support outreach and retention strategies for girls and women in VTIs.
• Connect trainees interested in launching or growing their businesses to mentoring programmes.
Your profile
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration/ Entrepreneurship/ Technical Education / or related fields.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in business and entrepreneurship development, career counseling, or vocational training, i.e. with strong relations to the industry.
• Proven expertise in supporting youth entrepreneurship initiatives, including feasibility studies and practical experience in facilitating career guidance structures, startup mentoring and business development services for young people.
• Professional experience within the TEVET sector, ideally with a focus on developing and implementing business, entrepreneurial and life skills curricula in a competency based and learner-centered manner.
• Demonstrated knowledge in the field of renewable energy is not required, but a strong advantage.
• Substantial computer literacy and very good command of the English language.
• Adaptability and flexibility, collaboration and networking skills.
• Willingness to travel within and beyond Lusaka (i.e. to the Copperbelt and Central Provinces).
