1. VACANCY

Our Client wishes to invite suitably qualified and experienced Zambian nationals looking for a long-term career path to fill the following vacant position:

DIRECTOR - TESTING LABORATORIES (01)

2. JOB PURPOSE

To provide strategic leadership, technical oversight and governance in the delivery of independent laboratory testing services, ensuring credible analytical results, technical competence, and internationally recognized laboratory accreditation to support regulatory enforcement, standardization, trade facilitation and consumer protection.

3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES.

a. Oversees the testing and technical evaluation of products to ensure they meet standards.

b. Approves test methods and techniques to ensure consistent quality results

c. Maintain laboratory accreditation and oversee compliance with accreditation bodies’ requirements.

d. Establish mechanisms for continuous method validation, calibration and uncertainty measurement

e. Oversees quality assurance services in line with the requirements of ISO 17025

f. Maintains collaborative mechanisms with national, regional, and international standard-setting bodies

g. Ensures the implementation and maintenance of Laboratory Quality Management Systems.

h. Manage laboratory budgets, procurements and technical resources to ensure operational efficiency.

i. Lead talent development,

competency assessments, and continuous training for laboratory personnel. j. Promote ethical laboratory conduct, impartiality, and objectivity in all testing processes

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

a. Grade12 Certificate

b. ZAQA qualifications verified certificates

c. Bachelor of Science or related field

d. A Master’s Degree

e. 8 years of experience in a technical or standardsrelated role, with at least 5 years in a Senior management role.

f. Experience working in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory

g. In-depth knowledge of standards development and quality assurance.

h. Strong leadership and team management skills.

i. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

j. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

k. High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
