1. ROLE IDENTIFICATION

Job Title: HUMAN RESOURCE OFFICER

2. JOB PURPOSE

A Human Resources (HR) Officer in Mining Security is responsible for managing the HR functions within a mining company’s security department, focusing on employee relations, recruitment, training, and ensuring compliance with labor laws and company policies. They would be responsible for overseeing the human resources aspects of security staff, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee relations.

3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruitment and Hiring:

Oversee the recruitment process for security personnel, including posting job openings, screening applications, conducting interviews, and making hiring decisions.

Employee Relations:

Manage employee relations within the security department, addressing workplace issues, resolving disputes, and ensuring a positive work environment   .

Training and Development:

Develop and implement training programs for security personnel, ensuring they are adequately trained in their roles and responsibilities.

Performance Management:

Monitor and evaluate the performance of security staff, providing feedback and guidance to improve their skills and performance.

Compliance:

Ensure compliance with labor laws, company policies, and industry regulations related to security personnel.

Administration:

Manage the HR administration tasks for the security department, including payroll, benefits, and employee records.

Policy Development:

Develop and maintain HR policies and procedures related to the security department.

Employee Communication:

Communicate HR information and updates to security personnel.

Safety and Well-being:

Promote a safe and healthy work environment for security personnel

5. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum

  • Grade 12 Certificate with 5 ‘O’ levels with credit or better in Mathematics and English
  • Bachelor’s Degree OR Diploma in Human Resource Management or its equivalent.
  • Security Background

6. EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum  Three (3)  Proven work experience in a similar role.

  • Prior experience of working in a similar Human resource / management role , ideally within the security industry
