Mechanic & Auto-Electrician

A transport company is looking for suitably qualified and experienced individuals to join its operations and contribute to its goal of providing exceptional service to its clients. The under listed positions are open for recruitment.

Positions: Mechanic (Auto Electrician / Pneumatic / Trailer / Welder)

Reports to: Workshop Foreman

Job Responsibilities;

• Download and update all DDEC/E check data and provide relevant assessments of the same;
• Install and maintain GPS units and verification of accuracy /reporting;
• Diagnose, repair and maintain fleet electrical / pneumatic (air) / braking / trailer systems and components;
• Ensuring preventative and corrective maintenance of all relevant components and diagnose problems on trucks in order to avoid further deterioration;
• The checking of trailer body and chassis conditions and ensuring same is maintained in good condition and are road worthy and aesthetically pleasing (welding & spray painting works);
• Make sure that all the trucks are worked on in time to contribute to faster turnaround times and function properly to reduce breakdowns;
• Should be able to attend to breakdowns outside of Lusaka without team support;

Requirements;

• Academic Background: Diploma holder in auto electrical craftsmanship, or pneumatic craftsmanship or auto mechanical craftsmanship and welder;
• Experience required (minimum/maximum): with 2-3 years, with relevant mechanical experience in a similar role within the transport industry;
• IT knowledge: knowledge of Microsoft Office products (word; excel; power point);
• Age (minimum / maximum): 28-40;
• Others: English – good level of the English language, both written and spoken;
• Preference (soft skills/behaviors)

• Hard worker, with high levels of dedication;
• Energetic hands-on individual that is proactive and results orientated with an assertive approach;
• Good communication and Co-operation skills;
• Details orientated (accuracy when working);

• Conflict management ability;
• Willingness to work late as per required workload;
