Legal Officer

Legal Compliance:

• Stay up-to-date with laws, regulations, and industry standards about the Mining sectors and ensure compliance with them. Develop and implement policies and procedures to meet legal requirements

Risk Management:

• Identify potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Conduct legal due diligence on business initiatives and transactions. Advise management on legal implications and potential impact on business operations

Contracts and Agreements:

• Review, draft, and negotiate various contracts and agreements, including supply agreements and vendor contracts. Ensure that contracts align with the company’s legal and commercial interests.

Regulatory Affairs:

• Monitor regulatory developments and engage with regulatory bodies on behalf of the company. Represent the company’s interests in regulatory proceedings and assist in obtaining necessary licenses, permits, and approvals.

Dispute Resolution:

• Manage and resolve legal disputes, including litigation, arbitration, and mediation. Work with external counsel as required and represent the company’s interests in legal proceedings.

Legal Advice:

• Provide legal advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on a wide range of legal matters, including corporate governance, intellectual property, environmental compliance, and labour and employment issues.

Training and Awareness:

• Conduct training sessions and workshops to enhance legal awareness among employees. Develop and deliver legal education programs to ensure compliance with legal requirements.

Collaboration:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as operations, finance, and compliance, to ensure a cohesive and coordinated approach to legal matters. Liaise with external stakeholders, including government agencies, industry associations, and legal professionals.

Professional Qualification & Experience 

Experience: 2 – years plus
Education Level: Degree
Qualifications: Law Degree, ZIALE Valid Practicing License
Software: Job related
Equipment: Industry-related
Knowledge Of: Supreme Court, high court, industrial relations court and all arbitral and mediation proceedings.
Skills To: Excellent analytical skills
Ability To: Liaise and coordinate with high-level stakeholder engagements
