1: Lead Mason (Biodigester Construction) — 10 Positions
Company: Anmut Sur Moi Trading Limited (Trading as Biogas Technology Zambia)
Project: 3.5-year programme installing 2,000 biodigester plants (6m³–200m³) across all 10 provinces of Zambia
Duty Station: Field-based (assigned region/provinces)
Reports to: Technical Director
Supervises: Mason (direct) and indirectly General Worker as part of a 3-person crew
Work Model: Hands-on construction + supervision (site-based)
Role Summary
The Lead Mason is the senior craft lead on site, responsible for supervising a dedicated 3-person construction crew (Lead Mason, Mason, General Worker) to deliver high-quality biodigester construction works safely, on time, and to specification. The Lead Mason ensures correct setting-out, workmanship, materials usage, and compliance with project standards, while mentoring the team throughout the project duration.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate daily site works for biodigester construction (foundations, chamber works, plastering/rendering, finishing).
- Interpret basic drawings/specifications and ensure correct setting-out, levels, and alignment.
- Supervise quality of masonry works, curing, water-tightness/finish quality, and defect correction.
- Plan daily tasks, allocate work to the Mason and General Worker, and ensure productivity.
- Enforce HSE requirements: PPE use, housekeeping, safe tool handling, and hazard reporting.
- Manage and safeguard tools/materials on site; support stock checks and site material accountability.
- Liaise with the Technical Director/technical team on progress updates, challenges, and technical clarifications.
- Maintain simple site records (daily progress, materials used, attendance) as required.
- Mentor crew members to build skill and consistency across multiple sites over the project period.
Minimum Requirements (Qualifications & Experience)
- Practical trade experience in masonry/construction; formal trade certificate is an advantage.
- Minimum 3–5 years proven experience as a Mason/Lead Mason on construction projects.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise a small crew and deliver quality work under deadlines.
- Experience in water-retaining structures (tanks, septic systems, biogas/biodigester works) is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong workmanship, leadership, communication, and problem-solving.
- Ability to take measurements, use basic tools accurately, and maintain high finishing standards.
- High integrity, reliability, and willingness to work in rural/field environments.
- Willingness to travel within assigned provinces.

Role Summary
The Mason supports biodigester construction through skilled masonry work and day-to-day coordination of the General Worker, under the direction of the Lead Mason. The Mason ensures tasks are completed to standard, tools/materials are used correctly, and the site remains safe and organized.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute masonry works for biodigester construction (brick/block work, plastering, screeding, finishing).
- Assist with setting-out, mixing ratios, curing processes, and ensuring water-tight finishes where required.
- Guide and direct the General Worker on support tasks (mixing, carrying, cleaning, fetching materials).
- Maintain quality workmanship and promptly report defects/technical issues to the Lead Mason.
- Follow HSE rules and ensure safe handling of materials and tools.
- Support accurate use of materials to reduce wastage and maintain site cleanliness.
- Participate in team travel and multi-site work schedules as assigned.
Minimum Requirements (Qualifications & Experience)
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Mason on construction sites.
- Ability to produce consistent quality finishes and work under supervision.
- Prior experience on biodigester/septic/tank works is an advantage (but not mandatory).
Skills & Competencies
- Strong practical masonry skills, attention to detail, and physical fitness for site work.
- Teamwork, discipline, and willingness to learn company standards.
- Good communication and ability to coordinate a helper (General Worker).
- Willingness to travel and work in field conditions.

Work Model: Hands-on labour/support (site-based)
Role Summary
The General Worker provides construction support to the Mason and Lead Mason, ensuring materials, tools, mixing, site preparation, and housekeeping are done efficiently and safely. This role is suited to disciplined, hardworking individuals willing to learn construction skills on the job and work as part of a stable 3-person crew throughout the project.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with site preparation, excavation support, carrying materials, mixing sand/cement, and water fetching.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area; dispose of waste appropriately.
- Support curing processes (e.g., watering/covering as instructed) and protect completed works.
- Load/unload materials and help secure tools and equipment.
- Follow HSE instructions: PPE compliance, safe lifting, and reporting hazards immediately.
- Perform other site support tasks as directed by the Mason/Lead Mason.
Minimum Requirements (Qualifications & Experience)
- Grade 9/12 certificate is an advantage [confirm requirement]; not mandatory if candidate is reliable and trainable.
- Prior construction labour experience is an advantage, but not required.
- Must be physically fit and willing to work outdoors in field conditions.
Skills & Competencies
- Hardworking, punctual, teachable, and team-oriented.
- Safety-conscious and able to follow instructions.
- Willingness to travel within assigned provinces and stay on site as required.
