IMPORT OFFICER
Location: Livingstone or Kabwe, Zambia

a key player in steel manufacturing and electricity generation, is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Import Officer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will manage and coordinate all import processes for equipment, machinery, and raw materials critical to our operations. This position requires a professional willing to relocate to either Livingstone or Kabwe.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare, verify, and process all import documentation, including Bills of Entry, invoices, packing lists, and shipping documents.
Create and maintain “dummies” and document templates for faster clearance processes.
Liaise with suppliers, freight forwarders, clearing agents, and regulatory authorities to ensure smooth import operations.
Monitor import shipments, track timelines, and proactively resolve delays.
Ensure compliance with Zambian customs regulations and international trade laws.
Maintain accurate records of all imports and provide regular reports to management.
Assist in cost analysis, planning, and forecasting of import needs for operations.

Qualifications & Experience

Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an import/export or logistics role, preferably in the manufacturing or industrial sector.
Proven experience in preparing Bills of Entry and handling customs verifications.
Strong understanding of customs regulations, HS codes, and tariff classifications.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
High proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
Willingness to relocate to Livingstone or Kabwe.
