A reputable Engineering Consulting Firm is seeking a highly skilled and meticulous professional to join our project management team. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality infrastructure and engineering solutions across Zambia.
About the Role:
We are recruiting for a Building Clerk of Works for a new contract project based in the Kabompo and Zambezi Districts. Reporting directly to the Resident Engineer, you will oversee all site activities for this project. Your primary focus will be ensuring all workmanship, materials, and safety standards strictly comply with approved engineering designs, technical specifications, and Zambian building regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Quality Assurance: Conduct daily on-site inspections to verify that building works and structural elements meet approved engineering drawings.
- Maintenance Oversight: Supervise ongoing building maintenance, structural repairs, and refurbishment works to ensure long-term asset integrity.
- Engineer Liaison: Report daily progress, technical challenges, and any site deviations directly to the Resident Engineer.
- Defect Identification: Identify defective work or structural degradation early and advise on corrective maintenance measures.
- Material Testing: Monitor the delivery, storage, and handling of materials, ensuring maintenance supplies match specified standards.
- Record Keeping: Maintain a detailed site diary logging daily activities, maintenance tasks completed, labor, and material deliveries.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations during both construction and maintenance activities.
Qualifications & Requirements:
·       Education: Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering exclusively.
·       Experience: Minimum of 3 years of proven on-site experience as a Clerk of Works, Civil Inspector, or Maintenance Supervisor.
·       Technical Knowledge: Strong expertise in civil construction methodologies, structural systems, and building maintenance works.
·       Language Skills: Proficiency in Luvale and/or Lunda languages is a strong added advantage for community and local labor engagement.
·       Logistics: Willingness to work and reside in the Kabompo / Zambezi region for the duration of the contract.
·       Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to liaise confidently between the contractor and the Resident Engineer.
·       Professional Body: Active registration with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) is required.
