Chief Executive Officer (Registrar)

Role Overview

ZIA is seeking a dynamic and visionary Chief Executive Officer (Registrar) to lead its Secretariat. The CEO (Registrar) will provide strategic leadership, oversee operations, ensure compliance with the Architects’ Act CAP 442, and drive the Institute’s growth and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide operational leadership and manage Secretariat staff.
• Develop and implement strategic business plans, budgets, and policies.
• Oversee financial management, income-generating activities, and compliance.
• Lead the Institute’s commercial investment drive to ensure sustainability and growth.
• Formulate and maintain member welfare and benefit strategies to enhance member value.
• Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
• Engage with stakeholders to promote the Institute’s mission and values.
• Lead negotiations with strategic partners.
• Manage administrative functions, including membership records and annual meetings.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Member engagement, retention, and satisfaction.
• Advocacy and influence on public policy and industry standards.
• Revenue growth, profitability, and budget adherence.
• Staff performance, retention, and operational efficiency.
• Quality of member services and risk management.

Qualifications & Experience

• Academic: Full Grade 12 Certificate.
• Professional:
• Degree in Architecture (preferred), Business, Finance, or Engineering.
• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Experience: Proven track record at senior management level.
• Competencies:
• Strong leadership, analytical, and strategic planning skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Solid knowledge of the local built environment and architectural profession.
• Membership to a relevant professional body.

Preference will be given to candidates with a professional background in Architecture, reflecting the Institute’s mission to advance the architectural profession in Zambia.
